Florida's Turnpike Enterprise is listening and responding to your requests!

Many of you requested more information on construction updates along Florida's Turnpike. These projects are being constructed in phases to minimize inconvenience, though customers may experience periodic lane closures. Your patience is appreciated as Florida's Turnpike Enterprise modernizes and widens the roadway, improves interchanges and continues construction on SunPass-only and express lanes.
Atlantic Avenue Interchange, Delray Beach (Milepost 81)
Construction is well underway for a new, more modern interchange on Florida's Turnpike and Atlantic Avenue. This new interchange consists of a new toll plaza to the west of the Turnpike which will accommodate the entering and exiting southbound customers. The existing plaza on the east side of the Turnpike will accommodate northbound entering and exiting customers. Once this $28.4 million project is complete in late 2008, both Florida's Turnpike and Atlantic Avenue will be widened.
Jog Road Interchange,
West Palm Beach (Milepost 98)
A new SunPass-only, all-electronic interchange is under construction just north of Southern Boulevard along Florida's Turnpike and Jog Road. The $12.8 million project will only service traffic to and from the south. This new interchange will reduce traffic at Okeechobee Boulevard once completed. Construction is scheduled for completion in September of 2007.
Northwest 74th Street Interchange and Okeechobee Toll Plaza Conversion, Miami (Milepost 32)
Construction began in January to build a new SunPass-only interchange along Florida's Turnpike on Northwest 74th Street. In conjunction, the Okeechobee mainline toll plaza is being converted into an open road tolling plaza so SunPass customers can pay their toll while traveling at regular highway speeds. No gates, no tollbooths and no need to slow down. This $63.4 million project is scheduled for completion in late 2009.
Widening in Broward County (Milepost 55-66)
A massive widening project is underway on Florida's Turnpike through Broward County. This multi-phase, multimillion-dollar project is expected to take several more years to complete but will alleviate traffic congestion in this highly traveled area. Currently, this portion of Florida's Turnpike experiences an average of 94,000 vehicles daily.
Canal Protection Program (Milepost 0-40, 75-117 and 138-173)
This $20.5 million project is installing a mixture of cable barrier and guardrail between the roadway and any body of water more than four feet deep in Miami-Dade, Palm Beach and St. Lucie counties. Construction is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2007.
New Interchange at Kissimmee Park Road (Milepost 240)
This $18.9 million project included the construction of SunPass-only ramps, the reconstruction and realignment of the Kissimmee Park Road Bridge over Florida's Turnpike and reconstruction of Kissimmee Park Road. Construction was completed in January 2007.
