Less Stop More Go On 95 Express

Customers will soon have the added benefit of using their SunPass transponder to travel not only on Turnpike roadways, but also on Interstate 95 (I-95).

The developing 95 Express lanes in south Florida are being constructed to reduce congestion and make I-95 a better driving experience. I-95 itself is not being widened. Instead, each lane is being slightly narrowed to make room for an additional lane. The new lane and the former HOV lane will become 95 Express. Once construction is complete, the improved roadway will encompass two new Express lanes plus the four existing general purpose lanes in each direction.

In addition to SunPass customers using 95 Express lanes, registered 3+carpools, mass transit, registered hybrid and other specified users will be allowed to travel the Express lanes. Trucks with three or more axles will be prohibited from using the 95 Express lanes to help improve traffic flow and driving ease. SunPass customers will have tolls electronically deducted from their SunPass account. Tolls will be priced based on a congestion pricing method, where toll prices will vary depending on current traffic volume and displayed on electronic message signs.

The construction of 95 Express lanes will result in an improved traffic flow for this south Florida corridor, and also provide another convenience to SunPass customers.
