A Message from the Executive Director of Florida's Turnpike |
As a valued SunPass customer, thank you for your continued patronage and support. Your feedback is an important tool to help us gauge how we are doing. The 2012 Customer Satisfaction Survey is included in this edition of the Sun Passages newsletter to provide your feedback.
Our goal is to find out if we are meeting, or hopefully exceeding, your expectations as you travel Florida’s Turnpike. While our prior results show that customers believe they received significant value in the form of safety, service and convenience, we cannot rest on our past success. We want to ensure that we are continuing to meet your expectations with each trip that you make!
Read on to learn more about the survey and how you can participate. We look forward to your input and safe travels!
Many thanks,
Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti
Executive Director

2012 Customer Satisfaction Survey |
The 2012 Customer Satisfaction Survey is now available. Click here to take a short survey to provide feedback on your Turnpike and SunPass experience. As a thank you for your time and response, you will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win $500 in tolls.
Customer feedback and commentary is an important driver to help us provide the services you want. Customer responses have led to improvements in safety, service and convenience. Initiatives since the last Customer Survey in 2010 include:
Eliminating cash toll booths to reduce congestion and lane jumping, and increase safety
Florida's Turnpike has made significant headway to provide SunPass customers with more SunPass lanes. In February 2011, All-Electronic Tolling (AET) was launched in Miami-Dade County on the southern portion of the Turnpike. AET allows for open-road tolling, without tollbooths to obstruct traffic flow. The Turnpike is continuing the expansion of AET, and is currently working to provide AET at the Golden Glades interchange in northern Miami-Dade County. In addition to AET, the Turnpike has also increased the number of SunPass lanes in other areas throughout Florida such as Okeechobee Boulevard and Southern Boulevard.
More convenient access to your SunPass account

All-Electronic Tolling Update |
More All-Electronic Tolling is coming to South Florida. Construction of a new Golden Glades all-electronic gantry on Florida's Turnpike in northern Miami-Dade County is underway. The new gantry will replace the Golden Glades toll plaza, and is anticipated to be operational in late 2013. Once all-electronic toll collection begins at the gantry, the existing toll plaza will be demolished over a period of several months.
As part of the project, a new SunPass-only ramp will be constructed for southbound Turnpike traffic exiting at Hollywood/Pines Boulevard (Exit 49) and heading west. It is estimated that 5,200 vehicles per day will use the new ramp, reducing backups at the existing ramp toll plaza. In addition, the ramp connecting northbound traffic on the Turnpike's Homestead Extension to the Turnpike Mainline will be widened from one to two lanes.
While construction is underway, motorists will encounter nighttime lane closures, generally between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., at the three work zones. Click here to read more about construction along Florida’s Turnpike.

500th Anniversary Commemoration of La Florida |
Florida's Turnpike has always been green, but lately more vibrant color has been exploding up and down the roadway and many drivers have taken notice. Since 2006, the Turnpike Roadway Maintenance Division has planted native wildflower seeds at 34 sites, covering 80 acres around the entire Turnpike system. Additionally, they manage 30 miles of naturally occurring wildflower varieties, encompassing more than 20 different native species.
When the seeds took hold, the spectacular results almost stopped drivers in their tracks. (Click to read more) |
