Florida’s Turnpike Extension (SR 821) will be widened to 8 and 12 lanes. Sound barrier walls will be built along qualifying residential areas along both sides of the Turnpike. The interchange at Florida’s Turnpike Extension and the Don Shula Expressway (SR 874) will be realigned. Work also includes asphalt milling and resurfacing, bridge widening, landscaping, drainage, lighting, signage and traffic signal improvements on local roads.
It is estimated the project will cost $145.3 million and construction is expected to be completed spring / summer 2020.
