PROJECT DETAILS

The Griffin Road Interchange Improvements project includes the design of Transportation System Management and Operations (TSM&O) improvements at the interchange of Florida’s Turnpike and Griffin Road in Broward County. The project will improve traffic flow, enhance safety, and optimize operations at this major interchange.

Improvements include widening the Turnpike’s northbound exit ramp to Griffin Road, to provide an additional left turn lane, and widening the southbound exit ramp to Griffin Road to provide an exclusive right turn lane to Orange Drive. Orange Drive will be widened in the westbound direction to provide an exclusive right turn lane to the Turnpike’s northbound entrance ramp. Additionally, the project will lengthen the eastbound left turn lane along Griffin Road by 400 feet.

Other improvements include milling and resurfacing the Turnpike’s northbound and southbound ramps, Orange Drive, and Griffin Road, along with new signing and pavement markings. The four signalized intersections at the interchange of the Turnpike with Griffin Road and Orange Drive will be upgraded to provide new pedestrian signals.

The project is currently in design, which is the third phase of the FDOT project development process. Design is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026, and construction is anticipated to begin in the third quarter of 2026.
