Did you know that since 2007 the MacDonald Training Center (MTC) has packaged over 15 million SunPass transponders? Each transponder has been carefully packaged by trainees at MTC, a Tampa-based non-profit organization that has been in partnership with Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) for 14 years.
According to MTC, its goal is to empower people with disabilities to lead the lives they choose by shattering barriers to independence that have traditionally kept them from being valued as contributing members of society. The partnership allows trainees to learn valuable job skills that they can use throughout their careers.
“We are extremely proud of our partnership with the MacDonald Training Center,” FTE Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer Nicola Liquori said. “We are grateful for the hard work these trainees put toward ensuring our SunPass customers receive a quality product.”
The MTC trainees oversee the packaging process, from start to finish. The team begins by designing, ordering, and collating the printed materials found inside the SunPass transponder package. They then package the transponder and scan it into the Florida Department of Transportation database.
“That SunPass transponder on your windshield has changed people’s lives forever, MacDonald Training Center President and Chief Executive Officer Karenne Levy said.
We thank our SunPass customers for helping to support such a great organization.
