Project Details

Florida’s Turnpike Extension/SR 821 will be widened from four to six lanes between Campbell Drive/SW 312 Street (Exit 2) and Tallahassee Road/SW 137 Avenue (Exit 6), in Miami-Dade County.

Key Improvements Includes:

 

  • Improving traffic flow by adding one lane in each direction from north of Campbell Drive/SW 312 Street

    (Exit 2) to north of Tallahassee Road/SW 137 Avenue (Exit 6).

  • Improving mobility by constructing a new northbound Turnpike Extension entrance ramp from Tallahassee

    Road/SW 137 Avenue.

  • Enhancing connectivity by reconstructing the interchanges at Biscayne Drive/SW 288 Street and

    Tallahassee Road/SW 137 Avenue.

  • Increasing roadway longevity and resiliency with the reconstruction of the bridges over Biscayne Drive/SW

    288 Street, Tallahassee Road/SW 137 Avenue, Moody Drive/SW 268 Street, and C103-N Canal.

  • Increasing roadside safety by installing wrong-way detection systems as well as new, highly reflective

    overhead signage and pavement markings for all lighting and weather conditions.
