In 1957, Troop K of Florida Highway Patrol began safeguarding the 110-mile stretch of the Sunshine State Parkway from Ft. Pierce in the north to the Golden Glades Interchange in Miami in the south. Also known as the “Turnpike Troop,” the two hundred plus members of Troop K are now headquartered with Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) at Mile Post 263 near the Turkey Lake Service Plaza. Troop K is the official and preferred law enforcement for the Florida’s Turnpike system and has a unique partnership with FTE to provide a safe driving environment for customers.
